BrightSign & Uniguest Power AV Experience at The Spine
BrightSign Powers AV Experience with Uniguest at The Spine, Royal College of Physicians
Overview
The Royal College of Physicians (RCP), the UK’s oldest medical college with more than 40,000 members globally, expanded its presence with The Spine — a purpose-built facility in Liverpool focused on clinical education, hybrid events, and community health initiatives. Digital signage plays a central role in delivering a modern, health-focused experience for visitors, staff, and event attendees.
The Challenge
As RCP planned its northern headquarters, it prioritized a signage strategy that could evolve alongside the space itself. With environments shifting daily, from medical assessments and training to events and exhibitions, the solution needed to be both operationally flexible and reliable.
Key requirements included:
- A signage infrastructure that could scale across exam rooms, public areas, and event spaces.
- Seamless support for AV-over-IP integration and centralized control.
- Consistent performance in high-traffic, multi-use environments.
The Solution
The deployment features over 100 digital signage media players powered by BrightSignOS™, delivering content reliably across the building, including reception videowalls, clinical exam rooms, and lecture theatres. Integrated with Uniguest’s Tripleplay CMS and Reserva room booking system, BrightSignOS ensures fast content updates, seamless AV integration, and flexible branding.
The setup allows RCP staff to manage day-to-day signage needs with confidence while supporting a wide range of experiences.
The Benefits
- Unmatched Reliability: BrightSignOS powers seamless content playback in a complex, high-demand environment.
- Built for Scale: A network of 100+ players supports future expansion and reconfiguration with minimal IT overhead.
- Operational Agility: Teams can make signage updates quickly, whether it’s a new schedule, branded message, or emergency alert.
- Sustainable by Design: The shift to digital signage reduces printed materials and supports the building’s WELL certification goals.
Looking Ahead
Since the building’s opening, digital signage has remained a critical part of the RCP’s visitor and operational experience. As The Spine continues to host new events, partners, and programming, the BrightSignOS-powered network continues to evolve alongside the needs of the RCP, supporting new programming, partners, and future growth.
“From the beginning, The Spine was a forward-thinking project that demanded a signage platform as reliable and adaptable as the space itself,” said James Keen, EVP of Marketing, Uniguest. “By deploying players powered by BrightSignOS, we were able to deliver a robust, scalable solution that continues to perform flawlessly across clinical, educational, and event environments, and remains ready to support the RCP’s evolving needs.”
