Overview
Global beauty leader GHD is a household name in premium hair styling tools, competing in a fast-growing market projected to exceed $38B by 2030. GHD aimed to reinforce its brand and improve in-store visibility. Their goal was to design displays that merged interactive technology with product exploration, empowering customers to test, learn, and buy with confidence.
The Challenge
GHD envisioned an interactive kiosk that would showcase product content behind mirrored glass, enhanced by sensor technology to respond dynamically to shopper behavior. But the mirrored glass created a significant hurdle: Traditional displays lost more than half their brightness once glass was applied, making content nearly invisible.
To succeed, GHD needed a purpose-built digital signage solution that could deliver crystal-clear visuals, integrate seamlessly with sensor technology, and scale across retail environments in Europe.
The Solution
GHD partnered with retail integrator Lime Retail to bring the concept to life, selecting BrightSign’s Built-In technology as the foundation of the new display. The team deployed Bluefin 21.5-inch High-Bright displays featuring mirrored glass, each running BrightSignOS™ embedded directly inside the screen.
This all-in-one design eliminated extra hardware, minimized cabling, and delivered the reliability and security that BrightSign is known for. Paired with Nexmosphere presence and lift-and-learn sensors, the display responded to how shoppers interacted with products, triggering lighting and content changes as they approached or picked up products, creating an engaging, guided discovery experience.
